# Exposing the Truck Parking Emergency: A Comprehensive Study on an Industry Crisis

### The Challenge: Most Americans Don’t Know There’s a Truck Parking Shortage

The shortage of parking for truck drivers —an ongoing issue in the trucking industry for decades—has escalated to a critical level in recent years. Trade organizations estimate that 40,000 fewer parking spaces than there are trucks on the road.  As driver advocacy organizations push for new legislation in Washington, D.C., to address the issue, CloudTrucks, a leading technology and service provider for trucking entrepreneurs, conducted research to gauge public awareness regarding the parking shortage and the general sentiment toward resolving this crisis.

### The Solution: New Research Examining Public Perceptions and Resolutions

CloudTrucks collaborated with Idea Grove to undertake the 2023 Truck Parking Shortage Survey to gather insights from 1,000 adults on their overall perceptions of truck drivers, their awareness of the prevailing truck parking shortage, and potential remedies for the issue.

Idea Grove then launched a comprehensive media relations campaign, distributing a press release and leveraging the survey report on the CloudTrucks website. The media outreach strategy encompassed tailored pitches to national news, legislation/policy and human interest reporters, as well as broadcast media to establish CloudTrucks as a leading authority on the issue. A diverse array of trade media outlets in the trucking, supply chain and logistics industries were also targeted.

### The Results: Enhanced Brand Visibility & Increased Awareness of an Industry Challenge

The campaign has delivered impressive outcomes, generating consistent coverage and valuable backlinks that enhance CloudTrucks’ overall brand health and visibility. 

Three months after launch, the campaign resulted in:

- **34** total placements with a total audience size of **7.11 million **
- **43** total inbound links to the CloudTrucks survey report – **13** of the 43 links were from sites with **domain ratings of 50 or higher **
- **4,021 events,** according to GA4

Additionally, the 2023 Trucking Parking Shortage Survey has climbed Google search results, appearing at the top of searches for “truck parking shortage” and “truck parking shortage survey”. CloudTrucks also appears in the top five results for “truck parking shortage data.”
